To install Flash and the plug-in in Firefox, I have found out that using the Synaptic Package Manager is not the best solution, at least on my laptop: in that case, when I restart Firefox, the Flash plug-in is not recognised, and I still cannot display Flash animation from the Internet.
What I did instead is download Flash for Linux from the Adobe web site and install it myself.
After downloading the file, unpack it on your computer by typing the following command in a Terminal:
tar xvfz install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz
Then move to the unpacked folder (install_flash_player_9_linux) with the following command:
install_flash_player_9_linux
Close any opened browser, and start the installation with the command:
./flashplayer-installer
Answer to the various questions asked by the installation program, and at the end of the procedure, Flash Player should be installed on your computer.
